Labor Day - Movie release date: January 31

Kinga's Books: There are a few reasons why I listened to this book. 

1) It’s called ‘Labor Day’ and I listened to it on the Labor Day. This one is actually more of a coincidence than an actual reason but let’s put it there anyway.
2) It takes place in New Hampshire in early September, which is when I arrived in New Hampshire twelve years ago to spend a year there. This is the nostalgia reason.

Endless Love - Movie release date: February 14

Kaethe: I did go on to read the book which is a very compelling story of an obsessed guy, seriously, disturbingly obsessed. It is way cooler than the Brooke Shields film might suggest.Lessons learned: good books are often made into mediocre films, and one should never laugh at someone else's "good book", especially if one hasn't read it yet.

Books for Young Humans: Way back in the late 20th century when I was a teenager and the genre fiction 'industry,' with its absurdly blood-soaked TV tie ins hadn't been invented, I (and many others my age) slumped on the sofa with the novels of  DH Lawrence - yes, really- with EM Forster, Emile Zola and of course, a bit of Shakespeare. This is what was available and if you had parents who were not great readers, this was rebellion.

TCWriter: Long Way Down is an odd book, but as is typical of Hornby's work, it's engrossing and brilliantly written. It begins on the roof of a building, where four people - intent on committing suicide by throwing themselves off - have run into each other.

I love a writer that can be ruthless with their own creation. In the YA section I have only come across two so far – Rowling, J.K. and Suzanne Collins. Veronica Roth is now number three on that list. She created an interesting environment and put a story filled with action mystery and – yes – love into it

Heaven in for Rental - Movie release date: April 16

Trish: I needed this book at this time in my life. Extremely uplifting to me. This is a story of a young boy who experienced a trip to heaven during an emergency surgery. It describes the struggle his family went through and how they made it through many hardships.

A Lazy Bookluver: I have to admit that after seeing the movie, I wanted to read this book. Cressida Crowell writes a cute and fun story about Hiccup and his dragon Toothless. The language is written in a way that kids at a young age will enjoy it even if it isn’t at their reading level.

meganbaxter: Cheryl Strayed loses her mother at 22, is divorced by 26, and lost. She decides, with little prep and more will than planning, to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. And she does. I admired this book for refusing to make neat little narrative bows out of her life and experience.

A little too religious for my tastes but not bad over all. I might read the next one if it's free on the kindle but I won't buy it.

My import finished during the night, so nice to know all my books and reviews are safely here.

I'm transferring over from goodreads as I type, I have 47 hours left to my import. But due to goodreads actions I can no longer support it. I'll still use it for now to keep track of my reading until I'm use to this site, but I hope to only use this site in the future besides maybe a few groups I maintain on goodreads. I haven't reviewed in awhile (too busy) but all future reviews will be on here and my blog and I will no longer do librarian edits for goodreads.

So hi to anyone who may read this. I'm hoping this will lead to better things, but I'm saddened to leave a site I've invested so much time in.

The writing style just wasn't my cup of tea.

Lets start with my stupidest problem with this book: The Grey t-shirt. Go look at the cover, see the t-shirt? Now go look at the rest of the series covers, besides the mask and the veil (which really aren't cloths) there isn't a stitch of clothing. So to put a piece of clothing on the last book of the series's cover irritates me.

Now on to my real problems with the book:
-Too much storyline, this series has had books where next to nothing happens so to have the last book crammed with stuff bothers me. Particularly storylines that made no sense for the characters to follow up on when they are all worried about finding the gate and Lucifer killing them. Instead some of the storyline should have been wrapped up in earlier books. It also didn't let us see enough of characters reactions to other characters chooses. We also really didn't have anytime for suspense and with all the pov's we know what's going on everywhere so there is no surprise of what someones going to do.

Spoilers of both stuff that upset me and made me happy inside:

First the bad in no particular order:
-Too happy of an ending, almost no characters we care about in any way died and those who do mostly come back from the dead.

-We spend all these books knowing God sent them down here as punishment and drinking/depending on blood is part of this punishment. But in this book we meet vampires who can do without blood, ruining the punishment.

-We don't meet God, we spend books taking about him and the punishment. Heck we even meet Lucifer, God shouldn't be that hard to write in. But even when God grants the vampires the choose of returning to heaven and other wishes, we never get to see him or this event.

-Oliver becoming a vampire, it was to be a punishment not something cool and wanted.

-Oliver getting with Schuyler's sister, it's too perfect and even though I wanted him to be happy this was too easy of a solution.

-Jack coming back to life, his death was a big sacrifice but was ruined by him coming back to life. Also why did it take him 3 years to go/get back to Schuyler?

-Bliss's story, I know there is a book but the only options to read it is 4 ebooks (I don't have an ereader and though I do have a kindle program on my computer, I rarely use it and at the moment it isn't working right) or a book I can't find. So I have next to no idea of what happens in it. But we are treated like everyone has read it and not given enough back ground on what happened there.

-And how did Bliss become a Wolf/hell hound?

-How easily Schuyler's father's family accepts her, also I feel that this storyline should have been dealt with before this book.

-Why the heck, when you know people are trying to kill you, would you get in a limo you only think was sent by a friend. Wouldn't you at least check with the friend or pull the driver out and use your powers to check their intentions?

-All they had to do to get back to heaven was kill Lucifer? This is way to easy, they should of had to something more to make up for what they did.

-The whole two dad thing makes little to no sense.

-Also parts of the history and world of vampires have never been clear and I would have loved to have seen them cleared up.

On the other hand I did like
-The story of Allegra's pregnancy of Bliss, which we have heard about for many books, but finally get to see. But I do wish they had made clear who the people where under different names earlier in the story.

-Mimi and Kingsley working on fixing hell

-And I am glad for some happy endings but it was too perfect.

It really pissed me off. I spent the first two books kind of liking the main character, who always tried to do what was right or at least would not hurt people. But towards the end of this book she makes a very stupid design that didn't not fit with her character and in general it was a very stupid idea, that could not work. It wasn't even a interesting stupid that I want to watch and see what happens. Instead I spent the last part of the book skimming.

Honestly I'm not sure if I'm going to read the 4th book because this one had me so mad, but I might read the 5th for the back story.
